During the 1960's there were several events that shifted the focus of music from the east coast in New York City to Los Angeles, California.     Rock and Roll was a popular genre of music in the 1960s. The music started on the east coast, but moved to the west coast. This is because the movie industry started to pick up using sound in the movies. The movie industry, being in California, and the music industry both joined at the west coast to allow easier contact.
