    Answer: The doctrine of containment was United States policy that used numerous strategies to prevent the spread of communism abroad.

    The doctrine of containment was implemented in 1947 with Truman Doctrine. Truman Doctrine guaranteed immediate economic and military aid to Greece and Turkey.

    Explanation:

    The doctrine of containment came into figure by George F. Kennan. This doctrine came just after world war II. This was the time when United States and Soviet Union were involved in Cold War with each other.

    One can consider this doctrine as a component of this Cold War.

    During Cold War, Soviet Union was trying to enlarge it's communist influence Eastern Europe, China, Korea and Vietnam. In response to this step of Soviet Union, United States came out with a geopolitical strategic foreign policy know as the doctrine of containment.

    This doctrine was implemented in 1947 with Truman Doctrine and in 1957 with Eisenhower Doctrine.
