The view on slavery was polarized between the northern states, which were abolitionist and the southern states, whose stance was strongly slaver.

    Explanation:

    Hello!

From 1776, after the Declaration of the independence of the United States, there was a constant abolitionist process between the northern states.

This situation contrasted with the experience of the southern states, whose economic activities required slave labor. Due to the prohibition of importing slaves from abroad, their trade continued clandestinely. Moreover, the southern aristrocacia developed an ideological discourse, with which it justified slavery.

In 1865, slave labor was finally abolished after the Union's victory in the American Civil War.

Despite the ban on taking slaves to the United States, imposed in 1808, cotton plantations in the southern United States continued to demand slave labor. Thus, illegal trafficking via Spanish Florida continued, and the internal slave trade remained legal, growing considerably. In the first half of the 19th century, more than a million slaves were sold in the south, especially close to the border, and taken to plantations in the extreme south of the country in forced migrations. In this context, although children could not be separated from their mothers before they were 12, the practice was common. Although they went through a process of dehumanization and mistreatment, African-American communities in the south were developing and trying to preserve their culture. The generalized slave trade within the South was not prohibited, however, and the children of the enslaved were automatically enslaved, thus guaranteeing a self-sustaining population in the south.
