Why did the economies of georgia and south carolina boom in the 1790s?

    The economies of Georgia and South Carolina boomed in the 1790's as a result of the manufacture of cotton. With the cotton gin invented by Eli Whitney US production of cotton soared and the majority of that production was in Georgia and South Carolina, improving the economies of both states as a result.
