Explain the major party realignments that have occurred in the United States.

In a simple form there use to be a lot of parties which are now called third parties like: independent, working families party, Vermont progressive party and many more. Republican and democratic became the main parties because people from that party kept on winning the political race. rarely ever would a third party win a race.
