The correct answer is A. The Spaniard that explored much of the Southeast of what is today the United States was Hernando de Soto.

    Explanation:

In 1538, Hernando de Soto left for Florida from Havana. He landed in the Bay of the Holy Spirit (Tampa), from where he entered the continent, to fight from that moment without rest against the weather and hostile Indians.

For three years, his exploration of the southern plains of the current United States was a desperate march to achieve imaginary wealth. He arrived in Alabama in October 1540 and discovered the Mississippi, one of the largest rivers in the world.

After crossing it to the height of the current Memphis, he reached the plateaus that flank the White River, at the confluence with one of the main tributaries of the Mississippi, the Ohio, and then returned to the great river, where, seriously ill, he died.
