Why was geography important in the development of these early societies?

    It was important for many reasons. 1) the protection. Protection was important for the survival of the societies and if you were in mountain or hilly area you would get more protection than in a flat area. 2) crops. You would have to be near a water source and have fertile land. 3) Transportation of good or people. A water source would be important for transportation as it was the fastest way to travel then and, if traveling on land, it would have to be an easy path so it could be fast.
