Inquisition was brought to light during the Middle Ages to prosecute those who went against the beliefs or thoughts of the Catholic Church. The Inquisition banned any writings that contained heresy beliefs, then started prosecuting those who went against the Catholic Church with different religious opinions. The Inquisition started off very minimal but then gained power to execute and torture individuals that did not comply to the Catholic Church's ideas and beliefs.
