When the Estates-General convened in may 1789, what actions did members of the third Estate take and why?

    The delegates revolted and called themselves the national assembly. They went to an indoor tennis court and proceeded to take the tennis court oath. They promised to never separate and meet when the circumstances required until we have developed a sound and just constitution.
