With Theodore. Roosevelt, for the first time and with a firm will, the United States participated in unequal footing with the rest of the powers in the resolution of the main international issues, assuming an unknown world leadership and until then avoided by the American political class. With T. Roosevelt, the United States would no longer be afraid of becoming entangled in European affairs and would not back down when looking for monsters abroad to destroy, the victory over Spain meant for the young President the confirmation that the United States had assumed he came of age and with that the time had come to recognize his global responsibilities. When thinking in world terms, the foreign policy of Theodore Roosevelt supposed a turnaround for the isolationist unilateralism, because to fulfill the new objectives the United States had to respond with new tactics and strategies to the new challenges.

Therefore, let us now see what are the main notes of conservative internationalism developed by T. Roosevelt: democratic nationalism, character, realism, military preparation, internationalism and national defense.
