It was part of the British thirteen colonies, Spain tried to claim Georgia last 1742 as part of their territorial expansion. However, Spain was defeated on the War o Jenkins' Ear during the battle of Bloody Marsh. The Treaty of Madrid gave recognition that Georgia is under British territory.
