Halloween's origins date back to the ancient Celtic festival of Samhain (pronounced sow-in). The Celts, who lived 2,000 years ago in the area that is now Ireland, the United Kingdom and northern France, celebrated their new year on November 1.

    Halloween was originated by the ancient celtics who celebrated the festival of samhain (sow-in). 2000 years ago the celts who lived in now present day Ireland, the United kingdom, and the northern part of France would celebrate on November 1 as their new year.
