    Nullification is a legal theory that a state has the right to invalidate, any federal law which that it deems unconstitutional with respect to the United States Constitution. An example is when South Carolina adopted the ordinance to nullify the tariff acts and label them unconstitutional. During the Civil War several states threatened or attempted nullification of various federal laws
