What economic situation did World War II create on the home front?

Peggy Terry was a woman worker on the home front during WWII who believed that the war was the main cause for getting the US out of the Great Depression. Due to a war time economy, it gave many people, including women and african americans, jobs in factories making supplies and weapons to send overseas.
