Explain the significance of the words patroon, pacifist

Patroons were people who were given land and certain rights within the colonies of the new world during the Dutch reign in New Jersey and New York. Pacifists are people who think that war is never justified or useful and who do not participate in wars and preach peace. Both words are important because both groups have been important in US history.
