    Explanation:

    In 1867, after president Andrew Johnson made public his poject of Reconstruction, a growing number of southern whites reacted violently as a response to the rebellious changes of Radical Reconstruction. Some dangerous white power organizations such as the Ku Klux Klan went after local Republican heads, white and black, and other African Americans who represented an insurrection for white authority. Also, when president Ulysses S. Grant took action against the Klan and racist groups of people determined to block black's rights to vote and more, white power eventually reaffirmed in the South, and racism prevailed.
