    Explanation:

    It is common knowledge that the imperialist powers exploited the conquered lands to the extreme. Everything that could make a profit was used. The hair folks who worked those hard jobs were forced to work for free or for food. So the colonial powers had cheap labor, and they got the raw materials for free. In this way, they could satisfy the domestic market and sell the surplus and gain enormous financial benefits.
