At the time King James ll was Catholic. Most of the country was actually protestants. The Catholics and protestants dint like each other at the time. So they were naturally an enemy of their leader. Then he had a baby, so the Parliament barged in and overthrew James bc they didn't want him continuing the catholic religion in the family.
