Cinco de Mayo is a holiday mainly celebrated in the United States among Mexican-American communities. This is a celebration of the unique heritage of this segment of the population, and one that reminds us that the United States is a melting pot of several different cultures and lifestyles. Such celebrations make this country unique because they allow people to celebrate their heritage, without having to give it up in order to successfully assimilate into American culture.

Other cultural celebrations that take place in the United States include St. Patrick's Day, Mardi Gras, Oktoberfest, and Diwali. These celebrations give people an opportunity to show the richness and complexity of their respective cultures. It also allows Americans to learn about these different cultures, and about the traditions and ways of thinking that come with them.
