The First Amendment of the US Constitution guarantees five civil liberties:

Freedom of religion-People are free to follow whatever religion they choose, or not follow a religion

Freedom of speech-People have the right to speak their mind, even if the government doesn't like it.

Freedom of peaceful assembly-people have the right to gather together to peacefully protest the government and/or its policies.

Freedom of the press-journalists have the right to publish whatever they wish, even if the government doesn't like it, as long as the stories are true (fake news is NOT protected under the First Amendment).

Right to petition the government-If you don't like something that the government is doing, you have the right to criticize it and ask the government to change it.
