    Immigration laws to the United States were enacted since the last decade of XIX century. Those laws had restrictions at the beginning, for "non-white" and Asian people. Those restrictions were removed throughout the years.

    During the first decades of XX century, the immingrants had to deal among others, with the effects of the Great Depression. One of those effects had direct relationhip to get a proper house. So most of them had to live by sharing small places for a big number of people.
