Civil society is widely different depending on the latitude it is located in the world. In the western hemisphere, were democracies operate, it is common to see much greater levels of gender equality and minority groups are starting to win ground regarding some rights to they want to obtain. On the other hand, in the Eastern hemisphere, where different forms of government operate, such as monarchies, gender equality levels are not as high as in the west and minority groups are practically inexistent in some countries due to the banning of them.
