The Aztecs built a calendar in the main ceremonial plaza of Tenochtitlan because the first emperor wanted to have. He threatened to double the sacrifices if they do not obey him. The Aztec calendar was used not only by the Aztecs, but also by other people throughout ancient Mesoamerica.
