Why did the colonists come up with the slogan "no taxation without representation?"?

    There were no colonists seated on the British Parliament, yet these various taxes on everyday items continued. The slogan No Taxation without Representation became popular in the colonies and was integral in convincing the colonists that they best way to govern the colonies was to let them do it themselves
