The Second Amendment is also often controversial. The ratified text states: "A well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed." Analyze this statement, and write a summary of how you interpret the amendment in today's world. Use evidence and facts to support your interpretation. You may conduct a brief Web quest to support your response.

this question is just asking you your opinion on if people should be allowed to own and carry guns.

My personal interpretation of the second amendment is that "a well regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state" is the civilian population who own guns and are willing to fight if our military cannot. Its like a backup military. "the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed" is just saying that US citizens have a right to own and carry guns and what ever the government does cant change that. The reason this is there is because the US broke away from what they saw as a oppressive government and they had to fight for it. So the second amendment is to protect people from another oppressive government because if the government takes away the guns we wont have anything to protect ourselves with.
