The Kansas Nebraska Act was passed on May 30, 1854 and it allowed people in the territories of Kansas and Nebraska to decide if they would allow slavery. The act served to repeal the Missouri compromise which didn't allow slavery north of a certain latitude (latitude 36 degrees 30)
