    True

    Explanation:

Before the settlers headed for the American West, the Indigenous lived in peace with nature and the buffaloes that dominated these plains. Nomadic hunters enjoyed total communion with the animals. They ate their flesh and used their skin to make tents, called tipis.

Buffaloes were of fundamental importance in indigenous culture, such as that of the Sioux. An Indigenous woman, for example, was considered a good woman only if she knew how to cut a buffalo, extract without damaging the skin, and still prepare pemicãn, a delicacy made from meat.

For men, buffalo hunting was a rite of passage from adolescence to adulthood. No wonder the tribe earned the name siuks from other Indians who inhabited the United States. The word means buffalo-men and turned sioux in the version of the French colonists.
