The Continental Congress was a government of the 13 American Colonies that transformed into the US. The First Continental Congress was formed as a response to the Coercive Acts that was a series of measures imposed by the British government to the colonies. Then the Colonies formed the Continental Congress as a form of resistance to the new taxes.
