Original jurisdiction is the court where first time case originates. And Appellate jurisdiction is the court which reviews the decisions of the other courts.

When someone caught in any crime, then in original jurisdiction his/her trial starts. But on the other side appellate jurisdiction only reviews the decisions of the trial courts.

In general, appellate court is a Supreme court but it may have original jurisdiction for some cases.
