Who should make the laws we all follow and why?

It's an interesting question. We live in a Democratic Republic, which means that we elect people to positions and they, are supposed to, represent what the people want in congress and in the senate. Because they represent the people, the representatives propose laws to the people, they are voted on, and the representative gives that answer to his group. Becuase the people decided on making that law, they should probably follow it, considering they wanted it.
