    The Hartford Convention started as a meeting of the New England Federalists Party in which they would list their grievances against the US government in regards to the War of 1812 (which was going on during this time). These federalists also complained about other actions taken by the government, such as the implementation of the 3/5ths compromise and the Louisiana Purchase.

    However, the concerns of these individuals were discredited after the military success of the Andrew Jackson in the Battle of New Orleans and the prompt end of the War of 1812. This was a huge blow to the federalist party, who never fully recovered.
