The act gave parliament the right to make any law they wish to regulate the colonies

This was called the Declaratory Act, and it allowed Parliament to make any law regardless of the colonist's approval. It was passed in March of 1766, and was one of the major deciders that a decade later, the colonists would be declaring their independence.
