    Explanation:

    Texas was affected terribly after the war due to the reliance on the form of labor of slaves that could no longer be afforded to them.

    This meant that the economy of the state had gone to shambles at it usually only relied on the trade of their agricultural produce and not much else for their money.

    Now they had seen that this was fairly volatile and needed to pay the labors which increased the cost of their produce and gave less profits.

    This meant that they had to find other avenues of work.
