In the late nineteenth century, many businessmen argued that the united states should be prepared to compete with nations throughout the world for natural resources? what policies would these businessmen support?

    The policies that they would support would relate to the idea of American imperialism. This is basically a fancy way of saying colonization. They believed that it is necessary to have colonies in order to ensure that there is enough resources for production and development and there were many in the US who supported imperialism.
