    The correct answer is

    a. included the development of the idea that the earth was a sphere.

    There were many such ideas but they didn't have the technology to definitely prove it. It was based on how shadows moved and how the moon and sun looked and it was also infused with religious beliefs a bit, but it wasn't far from the scientific course.
