    Explanation:

    Reconstruction began in 1865 and it was a massive plan that aimed to make the Southern States pledge future loyalty to the Union and emancipate their slaves. Whites Southerns did not agree with that and saw it as violence against their liberty. This belief remained until President Andrew Johnson took over Reconstruction after Lincoln's assassination and let a few rules of Lincoln's reconstruction loose. Congress was not happy with it and took over the Plans of Reconstruction which is called the Radical Reconstruction. This led to violence and more problems since power fell on the laps of the ones that wanted to leave the Union.
