Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni was known best for his painting of the Sistine Chapel ceiling, the statue of Moses which is in San Pietro in Vincoli, Rome, which is at the tomb of Pope Julius II. He also created the statue of David, the Biblical character that slayed Goliath with a practical sling, this is what Michelangelo is known best for. Michelangelo is known for having painted the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel; for having sculpted the David and the Pieta, among many other works.
