    Yes, it was William Levitt who applied assembly-line techniques to home construction in the 1950s. The assembly-line method allowed him to build more homes at the same time and for a cheaper price. The method consisted of dividing home construction into 27 different steps, each step was given to one sub-contractor to develop. Groups of specialized workers were formed, each one with one specific job, so that groups followed each other doing their part from house to house, so that all of the houses were being worked on at the same time.
