The Bay of Pigs was c) a failed attempt by the U. S. to invade Cuba and overthrow the communist Castro regime. It was a CIA-sponsored paramilitary group which invaded Cuba from Guatemala, but was defeated by the Cuban Revolutionary Armed Forces which was under the direction of Fidel Castro, the communist ruler they were trying to overthrow.
