    Assuming an individual who needs to buy a few items for his family decides to do that from a supermarket. He walks in and during the process of selecting items he would pay for, he slipped from a few spills that had fallen from the grocery shelf and found himself on the floor, and got injured in the process. He could sue as the injured party, the plaintiff and the supermarket then becomes the defender, the negligent one.
