Equal Rights Amendment (ERA) was a proposed amendment to guarantee equal legal rights for all the citizens in America under the United States Constitution. It emerged from the feminist approach of 20th Century that demands equal rights in every field as well as no discrimination on ground of sex or gender.
The amendment was passed to resolve dispute between men and women. It seeks to provide assistance in matters of employment, divorce, property etc.
It was introduced in December 1923.
