    Step-by-step explanation:

The worth of a dime is 10 cents. Converting to dollars, it becomes

    10/100 = $0.1

The worth of a penny is 1 cent. Converting to dollars, it becomes

    1/100 = $0.01

Vanessa has 6 dimes and 2 pennies. The total amount of money that she has is

    (6 * 0.1) + (2 * 0.01)

    = 0.6 + 0.02 = $0.62

Joachim has 1 dollar, 3 dimes, and 5 pennies. The total amount of money that she has is

    1 + (3 * 0.1) + (5 * 0.01)

    = 1 + 0.3 + 0.05 = $1.35

Jimmy has 5 dollars and 7 pennies. The total amount of money that he has is

    5 + (7 * 0.01)

    = 5 + 0.07 = $5.07

The total amount of money that they have is

    0.62 + 1.35 + 5.07 = $7.04

Since the game costs $8, then they don't have enough money. The additional amount of money that they need is

    8 - 7.04 = $0.96
