Since the October price was $1.50/flower and the September price was 20% less, multiply 0.20 by $1.50. Subtract that answer from $1.50 to get the price of the September flowers. Multiply the September price by 900 flowers for the amount made from the sale in September and multiply $1.50 by 700 flowers to get the October price. Add these two amounts earned together and multiply by 0.40 to get the 40% that the class earned from the sale of flowers.
