    John needs 217 tiles.

    Rate of change is 1.9 tiles per square foot

    Step-by-step explanation:

    Hallway area=3•38=114 ft²

    Rate of change=190/100=1.9 tiles/ft²

    Tile total=

    T=area•rate

    =114•1.9

    T=216.6

    (Round up because tiles are sold as whole units)

    Total tiles=217
