Where do you begin when locating a number on the number line

    you begin in a place where you think the middle of the number line is, (which depending on the number, will or may be tenths, hundredths, thousandths, or negative and whole numbers.) the middle will be (.5.05.005 5 50) depending on the middle. To find the middle number you can divide the number you want to find that is in between two whole numbers by 2. Then you see if the number you are trying to locate is greater or smaller than the middle. From there you can round or calculate where the number is closer depending on if you'r number is greater or smaller than the middle number.
