A fuel company uses two different sized tankers to deliver gasoline to stores. The larger tanker can transport x gallons of gasoline per M trip. The smaller tanker can transport y gallons of gasoline per N trip. Consider xM + yN M + N. What quantity is represented by the expression within the context of the problem?

    M+N represents the total number of trips the first and second tanker make. xM + yN represents the total amount both tankers can carry (for all the trips combined).
