    8 (3m+5) = 2m-4

    Multiply the number outside of the parenthesis with the numbers inside the parenthesis

    24m+40=2m-4

    Subtract 2m from both sides so that the variable is only on one side

    22m+40=-4

    Subtract 40 from both sides

    22m=-44

    Divide 22 on both sides

    Final Answer: m = - 2
