Jim buys two boxes of apples. 90% of the total apples are ripe.

Each box contains 15 apples.

How many apples are unripe?

    You would multiply. 9 (which is 90%) with 30 (two boxes of 15 apples) and get 27 (the number of ripe apples) so there are 3 unripe apples.
