and y = 2x - 2

112 = 2x^2 - 2x

2x^2 - 2x - 112 = 0

x^2 - x - 56 = 0

(x - 8) (x + 7) = 0

x = 8, - 7 (ignore the negative)

so the number of rows = 8

and number of trees per row = 112/8 = 14
