    4x^2 - 8x + 3

    4*3 = 12

    Factors of 12 that add to - 8 and - 6 and - 2. Replace the - 8x with - 6x and - 2x then factor by grouping.

    4x^2 - 2x - 6x + 3

    2x (2x - 1) - 3 (2x - 1)

    (2x-1) (2x-3)
